I had a solid stay at Premiere Classe Apartment Hotel in Johannesburg. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the Wanderers stadium and Melrose Arch. Although the room was a bit small for a big group, the cleanliness and friendly staff made up for it. The lack of air conditioning was a slight downside, but it was manageable with the provided heaters.
